Pentax showcases future products at PMA 2006

27th February 2006: Pentax will be exhibiting three future products at this year’s PMA, all currently in development and planned for launch later in 2006. PMA, America’s largest annual photographic merchandise trade show runs from 26 February until 1 March in Orlando, Florida.

The three products on display will be:

Pentax 645 Digital

A lens-interchangeable medium-format digital SLR camera
18 effective megapixels, with professional quality digital image reproduction
Kodak-developed extra-large CCD image sensor with 18.6 megapixels (tbc)
Original 645 AF lens mount
Compatibility with existing Pentax 645 interchangeable lenses

Digital SLR camera – name to be confirmed

10 effective megapixels, high quality digital image reproduction
Market launch planned for autumn 2006

Interchangeable uni-focal wide-angle lens for use with Pentax digital SLR cameras
Compact, lightweight wide-angle lens designed for exclusive use with Pentax digital SLR cameras
Wide-perspective coverage with a 68-degree angle of view (equivalent in focal length to 32mm in the 35mm format, when mounted on a Pentax ist D-series digital SLR body)
Pentax original KAF lens mount
Market launch planned for June 2006
