TOKYO - Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the release of six new COOLPIX S-series models that incorporate advanced functions in a stylish design.
The S9300 and S9200 are high-power zoom models equipped with 18x optical zoom NIKKOR lenses utilizing thin optics, and offering improvements to specifications available with the popular COOLPIX S9100 released in the spring of 2011. The backside illumination CMOS image sensor and lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) system built into these cameras enable capture of beautiful photos of even dimly lit or dark scenes. The S9200 is a basic model while the S9300 also offers a built-in GPS function. A new movie function for saving and playing back movies, which allows for recording of multiple scenes that are then saved as a single file, has been adopted.
The S6300 is a new model for the popular high-power, compact zoom model class. It offers one of the most compact bodies in its class despite the built-in 10x optical zoom NIKKOR lens. It also offers an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels and is equipped with a lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function that makes the most of superior camera shake compensation precision. The S6300 offers superior image quality for both still images and movies recorded with its full-HD compatible movie function, as well as excellent balance between still image and movie recording functions.
The S4300 and S3300 are slim and stylish models that are slimmer than their predecessors despite improved zoom function and built-in VR. They are stylish models available in a variety of colors to suit any user's lifestyle or preferences.
Finally, the S30 is a compact digital camera based on a new concept which presumes use by the entire family. Every member of the family will enjoy the feel of the camera as well as the fun of taking pictures with it. It is designed with a simple symmetrical and familiar form and equipped with a new operation system that anyone can quickly master. What's more, the S30 offers specifications and functions that ensure fun and worry free shooting in a wide variety of situations, including dust resistance and waterproofing to a depth of three meters, shock resistance that withstands falls from heights of up to 80 cm, application of frames to still images with shooting, and a slide show function that incorporates background music and animation, all of which allow the camera to propose ways of increasing communication between all members of the family, from the youngest children to grandparents and great-grandparents.

Even with their high-performance wide-angle high-power zoom lenses, the cameras are compact and slim for superior portability. These cameras can easily be taken anywhere to enjoy taking pictures of a wide variety of scenes utilizing the full power of the zoom lens.
Equipped with a backside illumination CMOS image sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels, the noise that occurs with shooting at high sensitivities is effectively suppressed. In addition, the lens-shift vibration reduction (VR) function newly adopted for this model effectively reduces blur, even with shooting indoors or in dark places where camera shake often results in blurred photos, for clear, sharp photos.
In Night Portrait, Backlighting and Night Landscape scene modes, the benefits of the backside illumination CMOS sensor in terms of image quality with shooting at high sensitivities are utilized through the capture of multiple shots in quick succession, which are then combined and recorded as a single image. A series of images are captured at high speed and then combined to accurately produce the intended results regardless of the lighting conditions.
-Night Portrait mode
Several shots are captured to reduce blur and noise in the background, and one shot using the flash is captured to ensure a bright portrait subject. These shots are then combined in a single photo with optimal exposure throughout. The portrait subject is brightly lit while the ambience of the background is preserved, enabling hand-held shooting of beautiful souvenir photos of a night at the amusement park or at a dimly lit indoor party with friends.
-Backlighting mode
When the HDR (high dynamic range) setting is enabled in Backlighting mode with shooting of high-contrast scenes, the camera captures multiple shots in quick succession and combines them for a single photo with no loss of detail in highlights or shadows, and a broader range of tones.
-Night Landscape mode
In Night Landscape mode, a series of images is captured and then combined into a single image in which blur and noise has been suppressed. This allows users to immediately capture beautiful night landscapes on the spur of the moment with hand-held shooting and no prior preparation.
The cameras are equipped with a new movie function that saves multiple movie scenes recorded intermittently as a single file and appears as a series with playback. Not only is it easy to record movies, but the ways in which movies can be enjoyed are expanded.
Just as with their predecessor, full-HD movies with stereo sound and a frame size of 1920 x 1080 pixels can be recorded, and optical zoom can be used during movie recording. What's more, dramatic movies recorded using the HS Movie function can be played back in slow motion at 1/2 or 1/4 the normal playback speed, or in fast motion at twice the normal playback speed for a comical effect.
The camera is equipped with a three-inch, approximately 921k-dot, wide-viewing angle Clear Color Display TFT LCD monitor that enables clear, crisp display. Display on the large LCD monitor is brighter, making shooting, viewing images, and applying settings easy under sunny skies or in rooms where light is reflected in the monitor. In addition, with a broad color gamut equivalent to the sRGB color space, even the finest details and textures are clearly reproduced in photos.
The high-performance GPS and electronic compass acquire and record position information with shooting. This information can then be viewed in the camera monitor. The S9300 also offers a log function that tracks and records movement with acquisition of position information even while the camera is off, and point-of-interest (POI) data (approx. 1,700,000 locations) that can be used to record and display place names.
These features offer active users who are often outdoors or travel frequently new forms of enjoyment after shooting as they allow the user to track their route while on vacation, for example, and save that information as a file.
Equipped with a NIKKOR lens that covers a range of focal lengths beginning at the wide-angle 25 mm (equivalent in 35-mm [135] format) up through 10x optical zoom, the S6300 supports beautiful photography of a wide variety of scenes from wide-angle landscape shots to close-ups of people's expressions from a distance.

Narrowing of the camera body at the four corners and top not only results in one of the smallest bodies in the 10x optical zoom class, which offers superior portability, but the combination of a rounded form and ridged lines, as well as a metallic feel, have resulted in an elegant and stylish design.
Full-HD movies with stereo sound and superior picture quality can be recorded with the simple press of a button, and optical zoom can also be applied during movie recording. In addition, a new function that saves multiple movie scenes recorded intermittently to eliminate unwanted portions as a single file has been adopted.
The S6300 offers more authentic artistic imaging enjoyment with functions such as 3D Photography, with which the user simply presses the shutter-release button and then moves the camera horizontally to take a 3D photo; Special Effects, with which still images and movies can be recorded with hue and contrast effects applied from the shooting menu; Filter Effects for simple editing of photos already taken; and Easy Panorama for capturing horizontal or vertical panorama photos.

With highly precise compensation for even the slightest camera shake, users will enjoy worry free shooting.
The large and clear three-inch HVGA LCD touch panel has a flatter surface that makes it level with the camera cover for simpler touch operation. Response to contact and removal of fingers has also been increased, allowing for faster operation. In addition, with the new graphical user interface (GUI), frequently used controls are always displayed for increased usability.
The cameras make taking pictures more fun with a variety of shooting functions that respond to any scene, including Scene Auto Selector mode, which automatically identifies the scene and applies the appropriate scene mode; Smart Portrait mode, which automatically detects smiles on human faces and applies effects for more beautiful skin tones; Subject Tracking, which automatically tracks moving subjects such as children or animals; and Pet Portrait mode, with which the camera automatically detects and focuses on the faces of dogs or cats looking directly at the camera.
The S4300 is available in seven colors and the S3300 in eight, for a rich lineup of color options. Users can choose from the broad range of colors, from basic colors to bright, vivid colors according to their personal preference. Two new colors are introduced with these cameras: a subtle and elegant plum, and a vivid blue.
The S30 offers specifications, including shock resistance that withstands falls from heights of up to 80 cm, dust resistance, and waterproofing to a depth of three meters for shooting with wet hands or around pools, at the beach, or anywhere there is water, that enable use by the entire family in a variety of situations.
Three large buttons on the top of the camera–movie-record button, shutter-release button, power switch–are easy to press, four Flexible buttons on the back of the camera make applying camera settings easy, and the user interface displayed in the monitor enables intuitive operation.
-Change Colors
This function can be used to easily adjust brightness, vividness, and hue before shooting. Four options (Vivid Color, Black-and-White, Sepia, Cyanotype) are also available for adjusting image colors after shooting.
-Decorate (add a frame around images)
Use this function to add a frame around pictures before or after shooting. Five different frames are available.
-3 special effects (selected from scene mode options)
Take pictures that reflect your artistic intent with simple application of one of these options prior to shooting.
Choose from Take Soft Pictures, Highlight Colors, and Create a Diorama Effect.
-6 filter effects
Choose from six filter effects–Soften Pictures, Highlight Colors, Add Starbursts, Add a Fisheye Effect, Add a Diorama Effect, Change Colors–to easily edit pictures already taken.
-Flexible customization of 3 camera functions
The S30 offers a variety of menu displays and operational sound settings for the shutter and buttons that can be selected according to personal preference, and the welcome screen displayed in the monitor changes each time the camera is turned on.
-Slide shows with background music and animation
Three slide show themes that add background music and animation to photos make viewing slide shows more fun.
-Function for creating photo albums
The S30 is equipped with a function that displays photos in a manner similar to a photo album with simple in-camera setup.
-Exchange Messages
Up to two voice messages can be attached to a single image. This function acts similarly to voice mail, allowing family members to leave and reply to messages attached to images.
The S30 has a symmetrical design and button positioning suited to two-handed use and a firm grip.
